About

Exposed at a young age to what he describes as a “Perfect Storm” of sound, Marty credits geography, and timing for his wide array of musical heroes. Growing up in the shadows of the Appalachian Mountains, the Belton, SC native was heavily influenced by Traditional Country Music, Piedmont Blues, Southern Rock, and Roots Music. He was inspired by a multitude of artists and songwriters ranging from blues musician Jimmy Reed to country-rocker Dwight Yoakam, along with songwriters Billy Joe Shaver, Dean Dillon, and Kris Kristofferson.

Following the success of his 4 original songs  (Take Me As I Am, I’ll Be Fine, When Love Came Rollin In, and If You Ever Change Your Mind) featured in the movie “Elbow Grease” starring Burt Reynolds, Marty continued to write and produce for personal projects, film, and for regional musicians/singers.  

In 2022 Marty released his first full length album in many years. The Trouble With Truth consists of 11 original songs blending soulful, meaningful lyrics filled with truth and honesty. Songs written by Marty in the past 20 months have received over 200,000 streams.

In 2024 "The Actress" written by Marty, and performed by William Shirley, won Country Song of the year at he Pensacola Beach Songwriters Festival. 

On October 11, 2024 Marty release his album "Midnight Honey", featuring fan favorites "Pick Me Up Sadie", "Alabama Drunk", "Ramblin", and "I'm In Love With You".
